The following is my October 7, 2012, 5 Star Review:

Book:  Stormcaller
Series:  Portals, Book 2
Author:  P.L. Blair
Genre:  Fantasy, Adventure
Length:  Approximately 312 Pages

P.L. Blair has done it again!  Wow!

STORMCALLER, the second book in the PORTALS SERIES by P.L. BLAIR, had me just as enthralled as the first book, SHADOW PATH.  I just can't get enough of these books!  If you are not a fantasy buff, please don't let the fantasy genre scare you off.  Ms. Blair has completely hooked me with her wonderfully creative Portals series books.  I was just as captivated with STORMCALLER from beginning to end as I was when I read SHADOW PATH.

Detective Kat Morales and her Elven partner, Tevis, are up against the mighty Tlaloc, the ancient Aztec God of rain, storms and disease, who has given an ultimatum to the inhabitants of Corpus Christi.  Either worship him, as was done by his people in the past, or he will destroy Corpus Christi and all those that live there.

The journey into the Otherside for the cast of returning characters, Kat, Tevis, the wizard - Arvandus, the love talker - Gairth and Achmed the Djinn, starts here.  I was thrilled to learn that in order to confront and fight the ancient Stormcaller, this wonderful cast of characters had to travel far into the Otherside.  I was given a peek into the Otherside in Shadow Path and was very excited about getting a better look.  Ms. Blair took me on an adventure I won't soon forget.  I was also happy to see that Kat, a human, had some very interesting developments of her own while traveling through the Otherside.  I can't wait to see how that unfolds in the rest of the series.

While I don't think it's necessary to read these books in order because the first two books in the Portals series were stand alone, I highly recommend reading them in order because they are both so good.  I'm really looking forward to the third in the series, Deathtalker, being released in digital format soon.

If you are a fan of fantasy, pick this series up.  You'll LOVE it.  If you are new to the fantasy genre, take a chance on these books.  You won't regret it.

Stormcaller Blurb:
Tlaloc, worshipped by the ancient Aztecs as a god of rains, storms and disease, has come to Corpus Christi, Texas, with an ultimatum: He will be worshiped as in times past, including Human sacrifice, or he will destroy the Texas coastline with a hurricane. It’s up to Police Detective Kat Morales, her Elven partner Tevis and the rest of an elite team headed by the Wizard Arvandus to stop Tlaloc before he makes good on his threat. The adventures that began for Kat and Tevis in Shadow Path continue as they race against time, and between worlds, to defeat the Stormcaller.

Sandy ... Thank you for a terrific review! I'm so glad you enjoyed Stormcaller - and that you liked the events on the other side of the Portals! Moving the action to the Realms of Magic was one of those "shaky ground" things for me ... I wasn't sure I was up to depicting the Realms adequately, but I knew i had to happen.

And ... sorry ... that last sentence should've read "I knew it had to happen" ... I hit the wrong key ...

Congrats on Book 2, P.L. I've often wished I had the attention span to write a series. But I usually conclude that I should leave it to the people who are good at it.

Thanks, Scott and Sheri. And ... a confession: I write series because I have trouble saying goodbye even to fictional characters. I cried at the end of Lord of the Rings (the book AND the movie!) because Frodo and Bilbo and Gandalf were leaving Middle Earth. I just can't let go of the characters in my books (well ... most of them ...).
