5*****StarsBook: Justice For Emily
Author: Sandy Wolters
Genre: Romantic Paranormal Thriller
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services
Rating: Adult
In Brownwood, Texas, a woman named Emily Campbell, a mother of three is buried. Everyone believes she was murdered by her own hand, or so her husband Boyd Campbell, Chief of Police, wants you to believe. Patrick Sheehan, an officer who works for Boyd feels that Emily's suicide was actually murder and that her husband is the killer.
Patrick knows that he has an uphill battle trying to prove his boss is a murderer but Emily is such a loved woman he feels he needs to prove she would never do harm to herself because of her love for her children.
Patrick needs help and he runs across it on the road when he spots a woman reading a map on the hood of her car. Her name is Rachael Merchant and she turns out to be a homicide detective from Phoenix, Arizona on vacation and lost. Patrick sees her as the answer to his prayers. Rachael is running away from an incident that occurred in Phoenix, a father killing his three children. It has brought her to the edge.
How do you go about proving someone's guilt when there is no body? Emily was cremated and there is no evidence since her husband wouldn't allow anyone to collect any.
While investigating, Patrick and Rachel realize there is a strong attraction. An appearance by Patrick's mother telling them that they were made for each other is both surprising and funny. You have to read the book to know why Patrick's mom’s appearance is surprising.
The author does a great job of educating the reader on how a police investigation is conducted. It was really wonderful watching step by step how the police can find evidence even when there isn't any. What they uncover about Boyd Campbell is violent and disturbing.
The romance between Patrick and Rachael is very touching, two people involved in a murder finding love. The author introduced the paranormal aspects of the book in a very sweet way and they just fit right into the story.
This book had mystery, romance, sex, violence, ghosts and spirits . It satisfied all the things I love in a good book. I stayed interested throughout the entire book and never once did I find myself bored and wanting it to end. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good mystery laced with sex, violence, ghosts and spirits. I loved Patrick and Rachael and some of the other characters in the book and it would be great if the author wrote a follow up book involving some of them.
Although the book was rather short, it lacked nothing.
